The aim of the course is to give a solid ground in biomechanics for treating different kinds of malocclusions with fixed orthodontic appliances

The following subjects will be covered

• Basic biomechanical concepts/terms (back to the building stones)
• V-bends, Step bends (the 6 geometries)
• Biomechanics related to the construction of the orthodontic appliances
• The geometry and the biology of biomechanics
• 2×4 or 2×6
• Intrusion/extrusion
• Anchorage/Mini screw supported anchorage
• Expansion
• The finishing and middle line
• Occlusal canting
• Gummy smiles
• Torque and incisor inclination
• Myths and superstition in orthodontics
