The aim of the course is to give a solid ground in biomechanics for treating different kinds of malocclusions with fixed orthodontic appliances
The following subjects will be covered
- Basic biomechanical concepts/terms (back to the building stones)
- V-bends, Step bends (the 6 geometries)
- Biomechanics related to the construction of the orthodontic appliances
- The geometry and the biology of biomechanics
- 2×4 or 2×6
- Intrusion/extrusion
- Anchorage/Mini screw supported anchorage
- Expansion
- The finishing and middle line
- Occlusal canting
- Gummy smiles
- Torque and incisor inclination
- Myths and superstition in orthodontics
