Basic principles of normal function and ENT-pathophysiology related to orthodontics and/or craniofacial growth
The students will after the course show knowledge of:
– how diseases and problems in the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) region can affect breathing and how breathing problems can affect the growth pattern
– how ENT diseases can affect the craniofacial structures and their growth
The course will cover
• Anatomy and pathophysiology of the larynx
• Naso-respiratory function and craniofacial growth
• Anatomy and pathophysiology of the ear
• Sleep apnoea in children and adults
• Velopharyngeal function
• Anatomy and pathophysiology of the nose and paranasal sinuses
• External, middle, and inner ear pathology
